This journal is dedicated to the study of weapons, armour and fighting within the Roman World. The listed contents in the above blub are wrong. Cataphracti equites, quos clibanarii dictitant (A E Negin); and The Eining lorica segmentata (M C Bishop) are not in this issue, but instead you have "Klivanion revisited: an evolutionary typology and catalogue of Middle Byzantine lamellar styles" (Tim Dawson) and "A critical review of the Bishop version 1.01 Newstead lorica segementata in the wake of a prototype's creation. (L. Arik Greenberg), as well as "Reinforcing a Roman Helmet during the Dacian Wars" (David Sim) and "Pieces of Roman Military Equipment in a Roman Cellar at the Bemelerveld in Maastricht (The Netherlands)" (Bernard Van Daele).

The text is mostly written in English, with two articles in German and one in Spanish. All of the articles have excellent line drawings and B&W photgraphs. This is truly a needed addition to any collection about Roman military equipments.

Peter Connolly's article is eye-opening for those who have not studied the pila in various museums, and corrects some of the Hollywood notions and 19th century writings that improperly described the function and construction of this Roman missile weapon.

Not my favorite choice.

Being new to the Appalachian trail I purchase this data book. Overall good. I don't use it because the mileages are not referenced from the ends of the Appalachian trail they are referenced from the state lines. Consequently they don't match any other guide or video or book. What a shame. I like the size of the book but for me the mileage values make it not my choice. Why not add Nobo and Sobo measurements so it could be used for referencing from books and videos. I would also like to see two indexes one index alphabetical for all points on the trail and mileage index from start to finish.

About the Author

Michael Sullivan, III is a full-time professor of mathematics at Joliet Jr. College. His training is in mathematics, statistics, and economics and he has more than 18 years experience as an instructor. His publications with Pearson cover developmental math, precalculus, and introductory statistics. Most recently, Mike has been highly involved in Course Redesign at Joliet Junior College. His experience in course redesign and writing texts for the college-level math and statistics courses gives him a unique insight into where students are headed after the developmental math track, and what they need to do to be successful. Mike is the father of three children and an avid golfer.

Katherine Struve is a full-time instructor with Columbus State Community College and has more than 30 years experience in the classroom. She is in tune with the challenges of teaching mathematics at a large, urban community college. She has served as the Lead Instructor of Developmental Mathematics and has been involved in the recent course redesign effort at Columbus State.

Janet Mazzarella is a full-time instructor at Southwestern College and has more than 18 years experience teaching a wide range of courses from arithmetic through calculus. She helped develop the self-paced developmental math program and spent two years serving as its director. Along with Mike and Kathy, Janet has also been active in the course redesign initiative at her institution.

Get MyMathLab if you can.

I used MyMathLab as a supplement to this book. However, If you get access to MyMathlab with your instructor you won't have to purchase the book because it's already in the mymathlab website. It was invaluable using MyMathlab because it shows you step by step how to do confusing problems. You get an endless amt of example problems and there's a helpful "Help me Solve this" in the tutorials. This is a very thick book that is used for two classes: Elementary and Int.Med. Algebra.

Used this book for a college course. It's okay because each chapter have a good layout of understanding the formulas. Con, it does not explain everything you need to know for the math course. I had to also buy the online account in order to learn half of the missing work from the book. And I hate the fact that we still have to carried heavy textbook to class. I preferred the online account.

This approach is a great way to ensure that amongst a large, heterogeneous group of stakeholders, everyone has an opportunity to express ideas and propose solutions on equal footing. The use of the Dotmocracy sheets in the brainstorming and feedback processes counters traditional "groupthink" traps often encountered in the conference or focus group environment where ideas gain disproportional analysis based on the rhetorical skills or prestige of the initial presenter. As high as unemployment is, we all need to stop complaining and start working, remember the way to get to the top, is to get up off of your bottom, and start moving towards the top. While we all wont make the kind of money Billy Mays and other notable pitchmen, there is still plenty of money out there to be made, if we just go out there and get it. Abraham Lincoln said, “good things may come to those who wait, but only what's leftover by those who hustle.” It's time for us to get our hustle on, this is literally one of the most challenging economic climates in modern history, we can either be a victim or a conqueror, I choose the latter. Take charge of your financial destiny, for man catches hell, so long as he believes himself to be the victim of outside conditions and circumstances. Don't be like Lazarus begging at the rich mans gate, (U.S Government) your financial fate is fastened around your own neck.

Will light your sales on fire

Very good brief history of how the the industry came to be. Loved the story of how the author watched the owner of his particular company demonstrate a product and then learned plenty of great presentation tactics from his relationship with the owner. My FAVORITE Chapter was the one on sales tips. Learned a lot from it. If there was any con, I'd say I wish the book would have a few pages dedicate to how to get your large audience to come in closer to you. As the closer they come, the more money you'll make

Pretty darn good for such an old book!

With all of the newer stuff out like this, this dated information was actually a breath of fresh air. And there's a lot of really neat stuff in here. The writing style is pre turn of the century, so it reads sort of like one of those 'old time adventure chronicles'. Very enjoyable indeed.

Good Do It Yourself Guide

This book is a good guide to counter some of the others out there that are entirely too oriented toward those with access to professional facilities. Few of the shade tree restorers among us have ready access to the full gamut of spray booths, high end abrasive blasting, two-stage compressors, etc.--you get the idea. This book is more focused on doing things economically. Following the guidelines in this book, you might not get the results that you would in a pro shop, but you will also avoid the easily recommended 'get all the best toys' mentality. One item of note: because this book is out of Great Britain, the product recommendations are not directly relatable to U.S. products / product lines, but comparable products are recognizable.

As with all books by Martin Thaddeus, this one just starts on the subject without a whole lot of filler. I wish this guy wrote more books covering other automotive topics. A great buy for the true diy who doesn't have all the money in the world.

A very informative book.

This book has good information to learn. I shows you how to do all the painting. I was not able to try anything, because I am unemployed, and do not have any cash to do anything with.

This book goes right with Martin Thaddeus other book on body repair.

His body repair book is very very good. It will teach you to take a really really rusted out car, and make it new again. He teaches you how to repair parts of the car, without buying the part. Which is a much cheaper way of repairing it.
