Such a Beautiful Story

This is a beautifully written moving and emotional story that will have you grabbing for the tissues and smiling as well as Dr Eva Corday finds love and family and Dr Jacob Dolan comes to terms with things that have driven him from his past and little Seb has a mother and father.

Eva has never had a family she grew up through the foster care system but always dreamed of family and when one night of passion with Jacob leaves her pregnant and alone, although she searches for him she is unsuccessful so she carries on life to the fullest with her son never thinking that she would see Jacob again.

That one last night in England for Jacob was never forgotten Eva the gorgeous red head was always in his mind and when years later he finally comes to terms with his past he returns to England from Africa and finds Eva but what he discovers also will shock him but make him more determined to open up to Eva and his son Seb although with it being Christmas many memories are brought back.

This is such a gorgeous story I have been lucky enough to always have family but Eva hadn't and to feel her joy as Jacob, Seb and her get closer is amazing and to see Jacob come to terms with what had happened to him and re-uniting with his family will have you smiling, Seb is such a beautiful little boy and of course I do love Christmas stories especially set in the cooler climates my recommendation is don't miss this one I loved it.

What a Lovely, Heart-Touching Read!

What a gem! I adored his book. The characters were refreshing and the story line was emotional and tugged at my heart.

We meet Dr. Eva Corday who thought she would never again lay eyes on the gorgeous Dr. Jacob Dolan, the man who stole her heart in one sizzling night of passion only to find him gone when she awoke. He left her a brief note saying that he was leaving for Africa and shortly thereafter Eva discovers she's pregnant with his child without any contact info. Eva did her best to find Jacob to inform him of her pregnancy but no one she contacted knew his whereabouts. She searched repeatedly without any luck and after exhausting every avenue she knew she finally gave up.

Four years later he re-enters the country after his medical service in Africa. He turns up at the same hospital in the same department Eva works in and she is shocked to see him. Unfortunately there is an accident that day that involved a pre-school bus and when Eva madly searches for her son who attends said pre-school she finds him under the care of... wait for it...Dr. Jacob Dolan, a grown up version of her son. He is a smart man and it doesn't take long to figure out that the handsome, intelligent little boy is his own.

Now, Dr. Dolan has a lot of heartbreak in his past (don't we all) and he is dealing with a lot of different feelings about the woman he was once to have married. But she was not the woman he thought she was and she came very close to destroying him. He was left with a life filled with tremendous guilt and angst.

I loved this book, I truly did. I highly recommend it. Was there anything negative about the story? Yes. Our heroine did a lot of self thought and self talk and it did become redundant. Other than that it was perfect!

A FATHER THIS CHRISTMAS by author Louisa Heaton is a Harlequin Medical Romance series release for November 2015.

Dr. Eva Corday had one passion-filled night on Christmas Eve four years ago. She had not forgotten that night and had a lovely reminder of Jacob Dolan in the form of her son, Seb.

Now four years later Dolan was standing in her ER department as the new doctor. He was back from Africa and was on a mission to find Eva, but what would happen when he finds that Eva had kept Seb a secret from him? He had missed the first three years of his son’s life. Could that fact override the feelings they had for each other? Eva wanted to be loved and cherished for herself. Could Dolan forgive her and forget his own past while moving forward with Eva and Seb?

A FATHER THIS CHRISTMAS is a sweet romance filled with emotions to tug your heart. Dolan had his own demons to fight with before he could commit. And Eva, though a strong person, had her own insecurities which she had to overcome. Author Louisa Heaton has her own unique style with words and hooks a reader in charmingly with her story telling.

Highly recommended for all readers of medical romance.

Dennis Newton had a goal of writing a book that pilots could understand and use. With over 10 years of line flying under my belt since reading (and re-reading) his book I believe it is the definitive book on the subject of thunderstorm and windshear avoidance for professional pilots. Every professional pilot needs this one in his library.

Weather Simplified

Finally, a book about weather in plain English. Unlike every other book I read on weather, the author keeps the subject very interesting. There is also answers to long-standing questions about flying in weather that no one ever dared answered that are in this book. A must read for every pilot.

About the Author

Stephen J. Silverman is Professor of Education and Chair of the Department of Biobehavioral Sciences at Teachers College, Columbia University. He is a native of Philadelphia and holds a bachelor’s degree from Temple University, a master’s degree from Washington State University, and a doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His research focuses on teaching and learning in physical education and on methods for conducting research in field settings. He has authored numerous research articles and chapters, and is coauthor of a number of books. He has served as editor of two research journals, is an experienced research consultant, has directed graduate students, and has, for many years, taught classes in research methods, statistics, and measurement. Waneen Wyrick Spirduso is the Mauzy Regents Professor Emerita in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at The University of Texas at Austin. She is a native of Austin and holds bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from The University of Texas and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her research focuses on the effects of aging and the mechanisms of motor control. She has been a prolific contributor to the research literature and has authored textbooks related to research methods and aging. She taught research methods and directed student research for more than four decades and has received numerous research grants from the federal government and foundations. Lawrence F. Locke is Professor Emeritus of Education and Physical Education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. A native of Connecticut, he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Springfield College and a Ph.D. from Stanford University. He has authored a number of books designed to assist non-specialists with the tasks of reading and understanding research. If you don't know who Agrippa was, you shouldn't be reading this review, unless you're a librarian who's been asked to buy the volume. Do an author search for "Agrippa occult" and start there.
Now, assuming that you know who Agrippa (1486-1535) was, and roughly what his Occult Philosophy was, let's talk about this volume.
This is a scholarly critical edition. The copious annotations do not so much explain the text as tell you what Agrippa is quoting or referring to, so you can look up more texts. The introduction is functional, but not terribly helpful to the nonspecialist. On the other hand, when I wrote my book on Agrippa, this thing was a constant and trusty companion; boy am I ever glad I shelled out for this!
Agrippa's book itself is obscure and difficult, but at the same time it is the seminal attempt to develop a philosophical framework for magic as a practice. If you just want to read the book, read it in English (buy the Llewellyn edition) unless your Latin is stunningly good. So if you don't already know the book well, you shouldn't be spending money on this.
The editing is meticulous, including constant explications of Agrippa's many references and sources. There is a wonderful index and bibliography, making the volume exceptionally useful -- Agrippa himself is deliberately confusing and at times seems disorganized. On top of everything else, the editor has included angle braces and further notes so that we get a complete edition of the Juvenile Draft (1510) woven into the final edition (1531/33). I can't say enough good things about the edition.
Every library with a serious early modern collection should have this. Brill's books are extremely expensive, of course, but they are permanent. The paper is acid-free, the binding is very toughly stitched, and so forth. If you shell out for this text, you will still have it a long time from now. If you are not in control of a library's budget, though, you'd better try to get your librarian to order this.
In short, this is a volume for a library, a specialist, or a wealthy Latinist. If you are wealthy enough to afford this and just want a cool edition, bear in mind that you can sometimes find Agrippa's _Opera_ in early 17th C editions for about what this volume costs --- no critical material, of course, but pretty. If you have good reason to want a critical edition, though, this one is not likely to be superseded.

Finally a scholarly edition of this classic.

This book should be at the top of the reading list for anyone interested in Western occultism or magic.
The original Latin text of Agrippa's classic is presented along with critical apparatus clearly showing variant readings in the editions. Includes a great introduction (in English) with a detailed analysis of Agrippa's sources and as well as an insightful and in-depth analysis of Agrippa's extensive 1533 expansion and revision of the text. Complete with helpful bibliographies and indices.
The only disappointment I had was the fact that this edition does not include Agrippa's lengthy recantation, which was included in the 1533 edition.
This is one of the most expensive books I've ever bought, but worth the price, especially for those with a command of Renaissance Latin.

Great view into what causes rifts in the workplace

This book is an effort to look at what occurs within one organizational setting, a gypsum mine in New York. In doing this, Gouldner sets forth the idea that employees can be divided into two groups. One group is comprised of those individuals wishing to progress up the corporate ladder. These men are identified as cosmopolitans because their outlook lays beyond that of their immediate local environment. The other group, he labels, provincials because these employees are concerned primarily with what occurs in their plant, their town, and their families. As a result, the employees in each of these two groups often have some difficulty in understanding the goals and motivation of one another. All this is done a in a very readable book. Get it, learn, and enjoy!!!
