About the Author

Alireza Haghighat is a professor at Virginia Tech. He has served as the director of the Nuclear Science and Engineering Lab in Arlington, Virginia, and led the Virginia Tech Theory Transport Group. He previously worked at Penn State and the University of Florida. He holds a Ph.D from the University of Washington. He has published numerous papers, received several best paper awards, and presented many invited workshops, seminars, and papers nationally and internationally. He is a recipient of the 2011 Radiation Protection Shielding Division’s Professional Excellence Award, and a recognition award from the Office of Global Threat Reduction. An ANS fellow, he has served in various ANS leadership positions.

About the Author

Trevor Slack, PhD, is Canada research chair of the International Institute for the Study of Sport Management at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta. Slack is widely published in major sport and organization journals and has presented as a keynote speaker at conferences on sport organizations around the world. He has been editor of the Journal of Sport Management and the European Journal of Sport Management, and he has been on the editorial board of several journals related to sport management. Slack has been awarded numerous grants for social science and humanities research projects. In 1995 he presented the Zeigler Lecture, the leading lecture in sport management, and in 2001 he was awarded a Canada Research Chair for his work in sport management.

Milena M. Parent, PhD, is an assistant professor in the School of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa. Parent completed her PhD in the International Institute for the Study of Sport Management at the University of Alberta. She has experience as a national-level figure skater, a coach, and an administrator. Her doctoral research in sport management is on organizational theory and strategic management of large-scale sporting events. Parent is a coach for Skate Canada and a member of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, the Academy of Management, and the North American Society of Sport Management. She also serves as a reviewer for European Sport Management Quarterly and for the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada conference.

it was great to read this book in terms of mixing pure admin perspectives to sports management. it also provided me with methods which i will be able to produce effective goals for any sport organization i work for and that is important !!! i also benefitted from this book in terms of getting more understanding with regard to decision making, size impact on organization and so on.

He doesn`t only explain what is going on all around us every day in a subterfuge way,but how and when it started in America and Europe,and much earlier. I`m not from David`s country,but the contents of this book effect everybody,regardless of colour,race,or nationality. and must juggle with the politics of her council and a great evil aiming to break free

If you have been looking for classic epic fantasy with large casts of characters, but LGBTQ+, then FROM UNDER THE MOUNTAIN for you. A young empress inherited her throne through sudden and suspicious circumstances, and must juggle with the politics of her council and a great evil aiming to break free.

Guerline is by far my favourite character in this, perhaps because her strength has nothing to do with magic. Or her throne, really. She's surrounded by powerful beings yet holds more courage, is more level-headed, and more gentle than most of them combine. I don't tend to root for MCs as much as I did for Guerline, especially when they have a crown. Honestly, to me she carries the entire novel on her shoulder.

Which isn't to say the book is perfect. There are several scenes in the first half establishing the four witches clan (NAMED AFTER DNA BASES THAT WAS COOL) which are fun, but ultimately slow down the action, and characters and plot threads sometimes get mysteriously dropped. I expect we'll see them again in Book 2, but it's a little weird that these things don't even get a mention to kind of close the deal.

TL;DR: Amazing and complex queer crew, solid worldbuilding, and the high stakes of a great epic fantasy. The occasional loose ends won't kill your enjoyment of this wonderful book, and you should go read.

the pacing was perfect. The last chapter left a lot to be ...

I have to admit, I was a bit apprehensive at first. Gueraline in the beginning wasn’t that likable, and a lot of the descriptions focused on gore and romance.

However, by chapter 10 I was so absorbed into the world she envisioned, that I was completely hooked. The lands were vivid, the characters were rich with personality, the different communities of people were believable, and the plot flowed in such a way that I had to keep reading.

I also feel up until say the last chapter, the pacing was perfect. The last chapter left a lot to be desired, since it felt more like it was cut off; almost like a season finale of a TV Show than tying up all the loose ends that a final chapter of a book needs. Though if this is being left open for a second book, then this complaint is miniscule.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed following the journey of these characters, and give 5/5 stars as a rating.

From Under the Mountain is a refreshing fantasy story featuring many diverse characters and a very unique storyline. There is at least a little bit of something in here for everyone, whether you like science, politics, or even just magic. The characters are all relatable, despite their many different roles and personalities, and it was very easy to find myself emotionally invested and desperate to read another page. This novel is very fast-paced and suspenseful with amazingly well-done plot twists. It is definitely not for those who dislike violence and gory descriptions; Spivey provides very detailed descriptions, whether the subject is grotesque or glorious. A clear, easy way to learn math

I am very happy with Richard Fisher's series Mastering Essential Math Skills. The books are presented in a simple fashion. The instruction is clear and to the point. Each lesson begins with a Review Exercises section and a Helpful Hints section. These sections are followed by appropriate problems. What I especially like about the books are that page by page the work seems easy. This is a great help to students who need to learn math but who aren't excited by the idea of studying math. It is also great for students who don't want to do a ton of problems, but who simply want to learn the material and then move on to the next topic. Teaching and learning math is a lot easier with the help of these books!

Seriously helpful workbook. There is almost enough space to show your work throughout. I did about half the problems all the way through, and the pre-test at the end. As my test date gets closer I'll do the rest of the problems for review. I only found one problem at the beginning with a wrong printed answer. The instructions are clear and to the point. I used this for review style learning.

My daughter struggles with math so we are started with basics and then added fractions to her learning. This book has been helping every bit plus when you get the code to watch videos online, they take you step by step on how to master fractions. I would recommend this book easy to use and easy to follow.
